Heart River Housing supplies housing for independent seniors in a lodge setting. This program offers single and double bed/sitting rooms, meals, housekeeping, and recreational opportunities with or without the help of existing community-based services.

As per Social Housing Accommodation Regulation 244/1994, applicants are prioritized on the basis of need, taking into consideration housing needs, level of support required and the applicant's income.

Rates are reviewed annually.

For your convenience, this booklet provides useful information and answers some of the more commonly asked questions.

  • Support services included in monthly rate are 3 home cooked meals daily, afternoon and evening snacks, weekly housekeeping, linen laundry, and regular activities

 Rents

Monthly fees are established according to the square footage of the lodge room and include meals, weekly housekeeping, furnishings and limited storage. The rates for 2022 are:

Single Occupancy

$1,125 - $1,225
per month

Double Occupancy

$1,125 - $1,225
per month

Additional Services

Parking, personal laundry services, special dietary requests and additional housekeeping may be available for a fee.

Transportation

Heart River Housing works with community groups to meet the transportation needs of residents. We do not directly provide daily transportation. Individualized shopping or medical trips will be referred to family or resident contact.

How to Apply

Senior Applicants (65 and older) are required to complete a Lodge application form. You may request or pick up an application from the Site Manager or from the Heart River Housing Administration office at 5401 48 Street, High Prairie, AB T0G 1E0. You may also request an application be sent to you by calling 780-523-5282. You may download and print an application form by clicking on the link below. Please complete the application and submit it to the Heart River Housing Site Manager at one of the locations shown above.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Individuals must be 65 years of age or older (Couples are eligible if at least one of them meets the age criteria).
  2. All individuals must be Canadian Citizens or have landed immigrant status.
  3. All individuals must be functionally independent.
